Church of
San Benedetto il Moro
The Church of San Benedetto, recently constructed (in the 1960s), stands in the same neighborhood where a previous church dedicated to the same saint was located, in the area of the current public park. Destroyed during the bombings related to the tragic events of World War II, only a ruin remains of the previous building, possibly the entrance to the church, which is now integrated into the public park.

In the new building, a fine statue of San Benedetto, created in the early 1900s in the Neapolitan style, has been placed. In a corner of the temple, there is a prominent wax Madonna, highly valued in local tradition, which represents the mystery of the Pietà, deeply revered during the Paschal Triduum, and of which every church in San Fratello is equipped.
Belonging to the Parish of San Nicolò di Bari, the Church of San Benedetto stands as a perpetual tribute to the saintly fellow citizen from the local population, who, in both the previous and current churches, have devoted time, resources, and labor to ensure that this sign of devotion to the most illustrious of San Fratello’s citizens remains present in the city area.
